Robert Pattinson for Finnick Odair??

Website Think McFly Think has received a tip that Lionsgate wants Robert Pattinson for 'Catching Fire', the sequel to 'The Hunger Games'.

For those of you who have not read the book SPOILER ALERT. It seems they are looking to cast Pattinson as Finnick Odair, a former champion of the 65th Hunger Games. Edward Cullen certainly does fit the bill as the playboy Tribute from District 4, the youngest to ever win at the age of 14.. Nothing has been signed in blood inked yet. We will keep you posted.

Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine, Water For Elephants) will take the Directors chair from Gary Ross. Lawrence directed Pattinson in Water For Elephants. I think it's safe to say that's where this rumor starts and ends. Given the type of roles that Robert has been taking lately (David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis), a big franchise like The Hunger Games wouldn't be his cup of tea (y'know, cus he's British!). Then again, it's Hollywood. Who knows?

What do you guys think of the possible casting?

I can't see it. Finnick throws a trident and is supposed to be amazingly strong. He carries Mags around -- it wouldn't work physically accept for the face unless they decide to change that role quite a bit and risk pissing people off. I'm not surprised they want to attach a big name to it, and Finnick's role does grow in emotional complexity which Pattinson has the depth to portray, but I'm not convinced.

As for it not being his cup of tea in light of recent smaller projects, I would like to agree, but the cup(s) of tea that put his name into the public consciousness to begin with have been big budget young adult book adaptations.
