COMIC CON NEWS: "Hellboy" Creator Mike Mignola Teams Up With "Dark City"/"The Crow" Helmer Alex Proyas For "Joe Golem..."

It was announced today that Mike Mignola (Hellboy, Baltimore, The Amazing Screw-On Head) and Christopher Golden's (Hellboy, Buffy The Vampire Slayer comics) graphic novel"Joe Golem and The Drowning City" will be adapted for the big screen. The directing duties will be in the hands of Alex Proyas, known for dark genre films such as Dark City, I, Robot, and The Crow

"Joe Golem..." takes place in an alternate-timeline New York City in 1925. Sever weather shifts have caused the city to partially sink. The main character, young Molly McHugh and her magician companion, Felix, meet a man of mystery. His sidekick, Joe Golem, has been summoned forth to battle evil witches. Proyas seems to be ideal for such a setting.

This is the second time Mignola's work will be adapted for the movie screen. His first was the Guillermo del Toro helmed motion picture adventures of Hellboy.

More to come as San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) continues to chug along!
