Thoughts On A Monday (Including Films Opening This Weekend)

Ok, you guys back! Let's start with the bad news shall we?

Will Arnett and Amy Poehler...*deep breath* have split after nine years of marriage. Sources say that the split is amicable. It's a real bummer, but then...

Wait for it...
How I Met Your Mother's Cobie Smulders has tied the knot with SNL's Taran Killam. There's hope for a new comedy power couple after all.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively wed in a secret ceremony. Love is in the air and a damn good looking child is in their future.

Not a single film grossed $10 million this weekend at theaters. That's the worst box office gross in over a decade. The top grossing film? The Possesion (Starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgewick, and Matisyahu?!) which brought in $9.5 million.

This weekend, all of that should change. Here's a rundown of the films opening on September 14th:

Resident Evil: Retribution 3D (Yep, there's another one)

The Master (Limited Release. Nationwide on September 21st)

Stolen (Starring Hollywood Action Legend Nick Cage!!!)

10 Years (Starring Channing Tatum. Think American Reunion, but without the sentimental connection to the previous films)

Cloud Atlas screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and received a 10 MINUTE standing ovation. Yes, I can be more excited to see this film.

Check out /Film's Blu-Ray Geek Deals of the week. Including Indiana Jones: Complete Adventures for $68.99!

Here's what's happening beyond the entertainment world:

Teachers in Chicago are headed to the picket lines. Reportedly the dispute is over teacher accountability, performance, and the Union's concern over job security.

Obama wins the $$$ battle in August AND Mitt backs down a bit on Health Care reform. Read about it here.

Is it possible that 15% of Ohio Republicans believe Romney deserves more credit for killing Bin Laden than the President?!

You've been hearing the name Elizabeth Warren a lot recently. Read about how she made her way into the political spotlight.

Daniel, I gotta say there's nothing opening this weekend I'm looking forward to. Ryan Reynolds and Lively will make some cute kids. I'm surprised about the weekend numbers, but the summer season is over I guess.
