RANT: What the F*ck Has Happened to Pop Music?!

Music is a BIG part of my life. I listen to it, I write it, I play it, I seek it. It's always there. There's songs for when you're sad, angry, happy, lonely, etc etc. I have an eclectic taste. I can get down with at least a thing or two in each genre. I'm not alone. Music is a big part of a lot of our lives. I can tend to be a bit of a snob when it comes to music. For example, I don't understand how people can get into Dubstep. It escapes me.

Thoughts On A Monday Morning: Dealing with the loss...

Not your typical 'Thoughts On A..." blog. I got one thing on my mind grapes on this cold, foggy day.

*Patriots 23 Ravens 20

Worst loss in the history of the Baltimore Ravens yesterday.

I'm heartbroken.

Thoughts on...SOPA, PIPA, and all that Jazzzz

I found out how to "blackout" my blog yesterday (thanks Wordpress!), today we are no longer "black" This disproves the whole "Once you go black..." theory. BUNG! We now have a fancy ribbon in the corner. Fight the power, ya'll!

Fame and Celebrity: Michelle Williams, you're doing it right

I won't go on a long babblefest about our nations obsession with fame and celebrity. I could go on forever about it. There are some celebrities who try and lead as normal a life as they can. Sometimes for their own benefit and sometimes for that of their children. Michelle Williams, who most remember as Jen from Dawson's Creek, is one of those 'private' celebrities. She always seems so fragile in interviews. As though one question could break her. When Heath Ledger passed, the cameras were all on her and little Matilda; their daughter. She's been nominated for an Oscar twice. Once for Brokeback Mountain (which Ledger starred in) and for Blue Valentine. She's become one of the finest actresses of my generation.

Thoughts On A Tuesday...

Hope everyone enjoyed celebrating Dr. King's birthday. I wonder how different the world would be if he hadn't been assassinated. Onto random bullet-pointed thoughts.

*How about those football games?!?! Only 4 teams left. I'm calling it:

FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!!

Well, it's Friday the 13th. A day marked with superstition. Are you scared??? Oh, you are? Well then you have friggatriskaidekaphobia! Did you know that it's believed that Jesus was crucified on a Friday, so therefore it's seen as an unlucky day in scripture and to the Christians? Leave it to the Christians to ruin Friday. Friday the 13th is also the namesake of one of the greatest horror movies ever!

Man, if I was a teenager in 1980 I would have lost my shit after seeing that trailer!!

I wondered if there was internet related superstition. The first thing to pop into my mind was chain emails. I fucking hate those (I hate chain texts even more). So, in closing, I'll leave with this....

If you don't forward my blog address to 10 people, kittens will DIE!!!!

Trailer Park Thursday!!: Chronicle

Don't know if any of you have seen the trailer for Chronicle, but it's another one of those 'Found Footage' flicks. This one follows around some High School kids who acquire super powers and go all Jackass while breaking them in. There's also a Tumblr page for the movie with some pretty cool fan-made artwork. Go check it out. What would you have done with super powers in High School? Hmmm...

Thanks, Pat Robertson

Now we can all rest easy. Pat Robertson spoke to "God" and got the 411 on the 2012. My favorite part is when he and the uptight white lady laugh at those crazy Mayans. Oh the Christian Right! They know how to have a good time...and it involves laughing at ancient culture's belief systems apparently!

Are You F@cking Kidding Me?!?!? (Politics 2012)

It's safe to say that our nation is fucked. The economy is in the shitter, tons of people are jobless, the rich get richer, the poor are slowly digesting in a Sarlacc Pit. In the midst of all of this, we are going to elect our President later this year. It feels as though there's far left and then there's the farrrrr right. There's zero common ground or cooperation. The GOP candidates are a bunch of crazies, but you know what? This motley crew are a product of the times. We are a media driven society and these folks are a soundbite goldmine. It just doesn't get any better for the news outlets and social sites. However, it's not good for the country. The divide becomes greater with each passing day, but maybe it's not for long. Maybe everyone (or the majority, at least) is getting fed up.

Thoughts On A Monday...

*Holidays are exhausting.

*Holidays are exhausting for adults.

*Fireworks are awesome. When standing on a rooftop deck, in the city of Baltimore, and seeing 4 displays happen at once on NYE...that's just amazing.

*Going back to work sucks.
